The Weather Thread

Postby CelticRose » Wed Oct 06, 2010 6:01 am

What's the weather like where you are?

Yesterday, the Phoenix area got hid hard by several severe thunderstorms. We got more rain in one day than we normally get during the entire monsoon season. 8O At times, the rain was so heavy that I couldn't see across the parking lot outside my window. I had to stay off the computer for most of the day. :(

Dobson High School in central Mesa was locked down for about 10 minutes after a report of a funnel cloud near the school, according to an e-mail alert from Principal Matt Gehrman.

The Weather Service was unable to confirm a funnel cloud, and students were released on time.

Dobson High is about 2 miles away from where I live.

Near Southern Avenue and Longmore, three utility poles were uprooted, and one was cracked in half. Police were diverting westbound traffic from three lanes to one. Traffic signals in the area were also knocked out, and police were directing vehicles through local intersections.

This is within walking distance of my home.

Let's see... for Eastern Arizona in the past couple days, I've gotten multiple flood warnings, two hail warnings (one for quarter-sized and larger), and a tornado watch.

High was 91F today. The dewpoint was in the thirties. Nice day. It's supposed to warm up to near 100F again next week.

Shhh... don't encourage the Sun Gods, we don't need any more triple digit weather this year. It's October, for Pete's sake!

It only got up to 98F here. :) Yuma got triple digits, however. It's supposed to be in the eighties next week.

Its still early but it doesnt seem like its going to be a bad day.

The sun is shinning and High 75.2, Low 55.4, apparently its going to be windy but I wont let that ruin a sunny day.

I spoke too soon. It was 100F today. In October. Ridiculous.

I haven't checked the weather yet today, but there's a dust storm blowing outside right now.
