I was 3 when diagnosed as autistic. I did not talk until age 5. The hearing problem may have really had something to do with that. I am not certain.

Deafness in it's self is considered a developmental disorder.

I got diagnosed with Asperger's in December 2003 and then with chronic low grade depression in December 2004. I won't say how old I was but let's just say it was early middle-age. Mum says she and dad had a nagging sense of something "not quite right" ever since I was a baby but there was not enough to go on at the time I was a child. Lack of ability to socialise well and bullying for being "weird" led to my becoming very depressed at times but I read that is very common for aspies of either sex.

Well I was never diagnosed as anything as a kid even though I typically showed alot of autistic type of behaviours but because I was quiet and never really caused no one no problems.
No one took much notice and if they did it was just she is a bit slow or she is a little strange.
I had an extremely dysfunctional family or childhood they would say but until I was a teenager.
My Mum looked after us all really well. She always kept the place clean. She always cooked Tea and like my Mum said I never talked but I did a little bit to her and only her.
Most of my problems started when I was 11 and just grew worse. Instead of my mum helping like I needed her too she just bashed the crap out of me. Two adults and one child or teenager. They was being seriously abusive. I was terrified as to tell anyone. I wanted run when I was 13 but didnt have the guts to til I was 15. I have three sisters none of them have autism and none of them was bashed. Why was I.. all the abuse was targeted to me.

Thats not fair.

That is my assessment and this year I was diagnosed autism.. Why couldnt i cope to know this. I havnt been the same since but I am over it and I accept and understand autism.

I may as well been better with no diagnosis. Sorry, but it's cut it too late.

I was diagnosed with AS when I was 12 and autism when I was about two but my parents didn't buy it. But lost the autism label when I was about four or five and they said I had autistic behavior due to my hearing loss I had. Then it was communication disorder and then AS.

Well I was diagnosed at the age of 22-23 as I am high function autism. A lot of my obsessiveness around Window wipers when I was only young pointed to Autism and I used to smear poo EVERYWHERE :eww: :embarrassed: :lmao: . Another obsession I still have is Transformers and window wipers. I love tha way they feel and I love the clicking sound on my transformers. so I was diagnosed pretty late on if ya ask me I needed more support at that time but did not get it.
