Re: This is a Dumb Question....

Yes, the word "date" is something I find daunting too; as if it something really formal that one could easily fail at. In Australia, we only talk about "dating" as we are copying much USA language these days. But when I was younger, we usually talked about "going out with&qu...

Re: How DO you guys find work?

There is a real shortage of tradespeople in Australia. I don't know what the situation is in the USA or elsewhere. There has been so much emphasis on academic excellence in recent decades that trades apprenticeships have fallen significantly. I think (hope) the government here has finally woken up t...

Re: What is Your "Dream Job?"

Yes, unfortunately at present, employers can pick and choose because so many are looking for work.

Re: A dry law

I still believe they need to have laws that are enforceable and practical. It isn't practicable to have a zero alchohol limit. Also, alcohol consumption is not the only cause of accidents. Impatience and tiredness at the wheel are two very important causes of accidents that are often not really fact...

Re: FDA moves against chelation therapies

It's about time they did that. Mind you, I still see lots of parents posting on Facebook asserting that chelation is curing their kids. I suppose when they are spending so much money on the therapies they have to believe it is doing some good. Maybe in some instances it appears to help, but it could...

Re: ASU starts training program for those working with autistics

I prefer the ones that are for teaching autistics to live in the real world like the one in Illinois, which college I forget, but a boy I know went to it, and he is doing very well. Hmm, I know one has to do that to an extent but some of us are never going to be able to cope fully with the "re...

Re: Go scentless, workers warned after lawsuit

But will they ban body odour? Given that it can be distressing to smell too? It's not always something that a person can help. I guess the difference with the perfume is that a person puts it on and can therefore also not apply it.

Re: How to cope with Depression

Just wanting to explain why I have not been here for a long time. In some ways, this hasn't been such a good year, with repeated bouts of depression and anxiety, carrying over from stress from last yr. I had a particularly severe bout of depression in February, which put everything behind eg. going ...

Re: How do you feel about your disabilities?

The depression and anxiety make my Asperger's harder to deal with by sucking up so much energy, but unfortunately I can see I can never overcome them only live with them. There are lots of people worse off than me so I have to count my blessings.

I often wondered how people in times past coped with corsets because they were sometimes laced very tightly indeed.

Heavy Disability Woes

I know of a woman who is confined to an electric wheelchair. Now admittedly she is quite large so she couldn't go into a really streamlined chair but the one she has must be 20 years old and is big, ugly, and clunky. There must surely be a way to make a smaller battery that will store as much charge...
